    Question

i used to be a MOC collector....but over the past year i have really enjoyed opening and displaying my figures.Recently though sometimes i get so frustrated when,
    A. figures take a dive and break, sometimes taking a group of others as well....(btw i hot glue my figures to the shelves, sometimes they still fall)

    B. dusting, and trying to keep figures clean..over and over...(i have close to 1500 figures)

C.when people come over and observe(which means touching them)

and others, but i don't want to make this a long read....so...my question, in a nutshell...

do openers sometimes wish they kept their collections MOC?

I'm a mix of both, but I find that, unless the figure itself is exceptionally cool, I enjoy my MOC stuff more, because I have certain themes and setups on my wall. I have a DC Direct wall, a MOTU wall, a Batman wall, etc. etc. There are a few I wish I'd kept MOC, but usually I buy doubles.

Well Im a 50/50 Collecter, Half MOC Half Loose

I dont mind my MOC collection, easier to clean and looks great on display, but some loose figures i wish i kept MOC cuz of the reasons you listed them.

I open everything, and haven't regretted it for a second. There's just so much more to get out of opening the figure.....every toy was made to be opened and enjoyed, no matter how crappy it is. I think keeping figures MOC is just about as enjoyable as printing off a picture of the fig in the package, and hanging it up on your wall.

Also though, when I buy a figure, I open the package carefully and keep it so it can be used to store the figure in. I love being able to look at my figures in their packages covering my walls, but it's also great to be able to take them down and play around with them every once in a while too.....

I haven't kept any of my carded figs MOC other than my Mandarin Spawns. I find the cards to be too much of a pain in the ass to keep mint. But the clamshells look fuckin' stellar MOC IMO and make for a cool wall display.

The only figs I've opened lately are my Binaltech TFs, 18" Hellboy, AOME, Hellraiser and Aliens. All my Sportspicks, MMs and Spawn series 21+ are MOC, with a few loose duplicates.

I'm mostly MOC, the only figures I have opened are my two Alternators, the MM5 Box Set and The Witch King from LotR (but I have one carded too). I tend to keep stuff MOC because I think they look cooler hanging from the walls, plus, for whatever reason, it seems to have more of a "wow" factor for people who see it for the first time.

I don't feel like I'm getting my money's worth unless I take 'em out of the package and fiddle with 'em a bit. The only time I regret being an "opener" is when it comes time to dust, that's a major pain in the ass. Besides, the bulk of my collection is Transformers, and those things are just no fun at all if you leave 'em in the package.
